Hewitt Named 2007 Rising Star by Campaigns & Elections MagazineJeff Hewitt, 35, is a co-founder and partner in Fero Hewitt Global, a general and fund-raising consulting firm ranked as the top Democratic firm in Texas by CapitolInside.com in 2006. Fero Hewitt served as general consultants to state Rep. Donna Howard, who won a special election in a 58 percent Republican district that is also home to Karl Rove. The race was one of the hardest-won in Texas, and Howard was up against a candidate the Republicans largely considered a shoo-in. The race went into a runoff, which Howard won by 58 percent. His efforts have helped elect the first-ever Vietnamese-American legislator in Texas and more winning state House challengers in Texas than any other Democratic strategist in 2004. In 2002, his clients Tim Black for Ohio Supreme Court and John Sharp for Texas lieutenant governor raised more money than any other campaign in those states. At age 20, Hewitt served as one of the five youngest paid staffers of the Clinton-Gore campaign, serving as the candidates’ advance staff in 34 states. Hewitt Ranked Top Democratic Fundraiser in TexasDemocratic consultants in Austin weren’t exactly begging for spare change on downtown street corners following the party’s collapse at the polls in 2002. But future employment prospects seemed dismal at best about the time the youngest staff member on the first Clinton-Gore campaign decided that it would be a good time to become a political consultant in Texas. Hewitt hit the ground like a young Carl Lewis, knocking on doors, passing out business cards and signing up clients right and left for the races for Congress and the Legislature in 2004. Fundraising was his specialty - and he had a good starting reference from his first job in Texas raising money for John Sharp. But Hewitt could do it all - and he was willing to take chances. |
“Their innovative media strategy helped me penetrate the right audience with the right message - online, in the free press and on cable. I would not have won without their help.“ Donna Howard, |
